Breezy

I’ve needed a couple of quick but fancy dresses for work lately so I dusted off an old favorite, the Breezy from Ellie and Mac.

I think I have almost every Ellie and Mac pattern.  Not only is the whole site on sale several times a year (right now 40% off!), they do $1 patterns rotating on Wednesdays.

Their patterns are simple, which makes them easy to play with and make all sorts of fun mashes.

For these though, I just needed something quick I could whip up the night before for an important meeting at work.

The only addition I made was mashing the Paige sleeves from M4M just like I did with my mashed cowl neck dress (instructions on how to do it in this post).

This double brushed polyester is from Elevated Fashion Fabrics.

I attached the flounce sleeve to the Breezy sleeve at elbow length.  The sleeves look kind of like a 70s bell sleeve but keeps them out of the way.

The Breezy dress turned out so great, I made another the next night out of Scuba I found on the 70% off rack at JoAnns.  I wanted the sleeves even further out of the way, so I attached them above the short sleeve line on the breezy sleeve.

I’m sure I’ll be adding to this post because I won’t be able to resist making more!  The whole dress including the sleeves takes less than an hour and I get so many compliments!
Here’s my original Breezy from a lightweight sweater knit I got from Girl Charlee.  This was meant as a muslin but it turned out so great that it’s a go-to for winter and fall at work now too!
Pattern Stats –

Maternity possible:  The skirt has room to get you by for awhile.  After that you might raise the waist to an empire and lengthen the skirt.

Nursing possible: Pull down access only – easier if you lower the neckline.

I’ve been making a lot of Ellie and Mac patterns lately.  The 2XL fits me well, I only adjust a tiny bit for height.  The overlapping pages give me confidence that I assembled them correctly and leaves me room to do that tiny height adjustment!    They’re almost always having a sale.  Patterns release at a discount, on top of the sale price!  So they’re usually $3.85 on the day I blog them.   On Wednesdays, the patterns rotate through being on sale for $1 (Wacky Wednesday).
